Our course consists of an an intensive program that has been structured on international research and evidence to deliver the industries highest DONA International accredited doula training. Our Doula Training will also provide you with the appropriate professional AHPRA CPE points as well as membership with the Premier Doula Association of the world.

Doula Course Options:

Birth Doula Training – This type of Doula specializes in providing emotional support, encouragement and wisdom throughout labor and birth.  This course will award you 20 CPE (continuing professional education) academic Points.

A Doula provides a little luxury for the expectant mother and will ensure you and your partner gain the most out of your experience.

A White Owl Birthing doula is trained DONA International professional who provides non-medical support (physical and emotional) to a woman leading up to and during her labor and delivery, an aspect of care that was traditionally practiced in midwifery.

A labor doula may attend a woman having a home birth or a woman labouring at home before transporting to a hospital or a birth centre, where she will continue support. Doulas do not perform clinical duties such as heart rate checks or vaginal exams, or give medical advice. Labor doulas rely on techniques like massage, aromatherapy, visualization, positive positioning, emotional support, encouragement, and nurturing to help women through labor.

Many offer phone and email support as well as prenatal and postpartum visits to ensure the mother is informed and supported. The terms of a labor/birth doula’s responsibilities are decided between the doula and the family. What is Cord blood Banking?

Banking your child’s cord blood stem cells is like an insurance policy for your child’s future health.

Midwifery

Midwifery is a health care profession in that specializes in offering care to women during pregnancy, the labor process and birth, as well as during the post-partum period. They also care for the newborn child and may assist the mother with breastfeeding.

A practitioner of midwifery is known as a midwife, and is reference to both women and men, however the majority of midwifery professionals are women.

A midwife has the appropriate insurance and training to operate within the public hospital system.  In many instances a midwife is also a registered nurse with formal medical training.

Doula

Within Australia, a doula cannot practice midwifery as this is considered practising midwifery without a licence. Doulas may not provide clinical care such as listening to the baby’s heart rate or checking the blood pressure.
